Today i received another mail from the creators with a new picture and some news. The iControlPad will probably be priced below $30 and it will offer you a full gaming control pad for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

3D App Converts iPhone into Window to Alternative World

August 24, 2008 at 7:18 amCategory:Uncategorized

If you liked Johnny Chung Lee\’s Wii headtracking tricks you will love iHologram, a stunning iPhone app that makes the screen look like a window to a real, parallel dimension. While it seems like magic, it uses anamorphosis, a very simple painting technique that has been used by old masters since the 15th century, mixed with the technology in the JesusPhone.
clipped from gizmodo.com

Created by David O\’Reilly, iHologram combines anamorphosis and the iPhone\’s gyroscopes to achieve this awesome visual magic trick. Anamorphosis is a way to draw things distorted so, while watched at a certain angle, they pop out of the 2D surface as if they were real.

David\’s application assumes a constant viewing angle of 35 to 45 degrees, which is the usual angle when anyone watches the iPhone screen. Knowing that angle, the application calculates the orientation of the screen relative to the viewer using the iPhone\’s motion sensors, so when you turn it around, the 3D world perspective gets skewed accordingly.

As you can see in the video, the effect is almost perfect, with the character popping out of the screen and the world he\’s walking on receding into a deep space. [Ismashphone]

Not sure if this is or is not the \’norm\’ but I just received my brand new iPhone here in the UK and once it had been activated on iTunes I found that the home screen (the screen you can personalise with a photo) already had a photo set against it !!!!

It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun – has anyone else found this ?

These are the photo\’s:

Nate True’s “Dock” ported to 2.0

August 20, 2008 at 6:12 amCategory:Uncategorized

Most of us remember Nate True’s “Dock” application. It added a small sunspot on the bottom right corner of the screen, and when tapped and slid towards the center, would open a list of applications that could be opened. Well, the same application has been ported to 2.0; however, it’s been totally redesigned. More info and screenshots inside.

Now, installing the application adds a dull bar of light along the bottom of the screen. Tap this a drag up to display your categories. The categories are Media, Phone, Uncategorized, Utilities, and Work. Scroll your finger side to side to select a Category, and the slide your finger further up to see the apps in that category. Scroll to select an application, and release your finger to open that application. Also new to this version, is an Dock Prefs application. This lets you configure Dock to your liking. This includes disabling the dock, show line glow, enable speed dial, categorize apps, and to disable the dock for certain apps. This is defiinitely an improvement from the last 1.1.4 version.

To download Dock, simply open Cydia and let it refresh. It’ll be under the changes tab.

Compose Music All High Tech Like

August 20, 2008 at 5:48 amCategory:Uncategorized

clipped from www.yankodesign.com

Have you ever caught yourself whistling a made up tune and thought to yourself, “hey this could be a hit song!” Those moments of inspiration are fleeting but with the Compose concept, you can compose anywhere.

The pen acts as a mic you sing into. When docked into the digital paper tablet, your vocal harmonies are automatically transcribed into a score. For the old schooler, you can write directly on the display. It also contains libraries for an entire orchestra so once your composition is finished, just sit back and enjoy.

The Apple Logo Glow Mod – How it\’s Done

August 19, 2008 at 9:10 pmCategory:Uncategorized

So I noticed this Apple logo glow mod on multiple sites over the weekend. Basically some folks over at iPhones.ru replaced the Apple logo in the rear casing of the iPhone to glow while the screen is active. Every site so far that has covered it has been filled with ZOMGZ FAKE!! Hoew waz it donez? OMG. Well it really isn\’t all that difficult. It also is a lot cheaper to do than the $300 claimed by iPhones.ru.
clipped from www.modmyifone.com
\nTo sum it up he first created an Apple logo out of plexiglass to replace the metal one in the stock iphone case. This was done with a dremel tool and lots of polishing.

\nTo light up the Apple logo some white LEDs from a broken iPhone screen were used although one could probably some comparable LEDs out there that would function just fine for the purpose.

\nLastly soldering Croiman soldered the LEDs to the iPhone screen power function so that the Apple Logo lights up when the iPhone\’s screen is lit.

\nThe end result looks very nice and is something any super geek Apple fanboy would probably want. Check out more pictures and a video below. For more detailed instuctions on how this project was complete back in April please refer to the original posting.

iPhone 2.0.2 Beats 2.0.1 on 3G performance

August 19, 2008 at 7:32 pmCategory:Uncategorized

The iPhone 2.0.2 software update came out today and though its intent was unspecific (“bug fixes”) it looks as if the results are truly impressive. Vincent tested OS 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 side by side in a series of speed tests using Mobile Safari and the results speak for themselves.
clipped from : www.iphonebuzz.com

3G performance on the phone running 2.0.2 was by far improved. And though it may not be running at lightning speed, it\’s certainly a big improvement, especially when compared to the performance of the phone running 2.0.1.

You can see three side-by-side speed tests below. In each test, the iPhone running on the update completely loads iPhoneBuzz.com before the phone running the old OS even begins or gets close to completing. Tests where the phones were switched to use Wi-Fi loaded pages at about the same rate. Wi-Fi is also still considerably faster than 3G when loading a page.

Sure, this may not be the most scientific of tests, but it certainly seems like a massive improvement, wouldn\’t you say?
